The Set subjects for 2018 are as follows:-
Winter Term Projected Competition to be in by 10th January 2018 'Patterns in Nature' and 'Open'
Triptych Print Competition (3 prints on 3 mounts) to be in by 28th February 2018 Open Subject'
Spring Print Competition to be in by 25th April 2018 'Shadows' and 'Open'
Summer Projected Competition to be in by 27th June 2018 'Place Names' (cryptic) and 'Open'
Each Competition has a SET subject and OPEN subject section.
There are 2 categories of competition held on different club meetings.
2. Digital Projected image
Each Competition will have 2 sections
Both sections can be interpreted as seen by the photographer's imagination.
There will be a different competition judge for each round, as available.
Both sections have the same points for each category
10 points for First (1st)
8 points for Second (2nd)
6 points for Third (3rd)
4 points for Highly Commended (HC)
2 points for Commended (C)
(Number of HC’s and C’s given at judge’s discretion)
1 point for each unawarded entry.
At every competition, individuals will be awarded 1st, 2nd, 3rd, HC and C and given award labels for the prints and certificates for the D.P.I.s.
At the end of the year (August), The total number of points from each competition will decide the overall winners. There will be two overall winners trophies awarded (One for prints and one for digital projected image), which can be held for a year.
The winner's name will be engraved on them.
Maximum print size A3 42cm x 30cm (16.5” x 12”).
Minimum print size A5 21cm x 15cm (8.25”x 6“)
Prints must be Mounted but un-framed.
Maximum mount size 50cm x 40cm (20” x 16”)A combination of smaller prints, e.g. A6 (6”x4”) mounted on a single mount as a set, will be accepted as a single entry.
All Prints must show, Section (i.e. SET or OPEN) and TITLE, your COMPETITOR NUMBER on the reverse in large clear lettering. Do not put your name on the entry. Please note - A digital image of all prints must be supplied on CD or memory stick following the same criteria as projected image files.
DIGITAL PROJECTED IMAGE
Digital images must be saved as a jpeg on a CD or memory stick.
Image files must be resized to a maximum of 1600 pixels wide by 1200 pixels high and the file named, using Set or Open, followed by a space then, the TITLE, space then your COMPETITOR number.
(i.e. ‘Set Jenny 67’ or ‘Open Peacock 67‘)
All entrants must be fully paid up members of the Barn and the Camera Club.
A total of up to 4 entries per section may be submitted. (i.e. up to 8 entries per competition, 4 set and 4 open) Please note; if the total number of entries is excessive, the fourth entry from each section will be omitted from the competition.
Work that has won 1st, 2nd,or 3rd, in previous competitions may not be entered.
Original Images must not be over three year old.
Work entered in the previous 12 months may not be entered.
The submitting photographer must have taken the work.
All entries should be handed to the competition secretary by the closing date stated on the competition entry form and on the programme.
The entry date will usually be 2 weeks before the competition.
Entries failing to comply with the above rules will be subject to the competition secretary’s discretion regarding eligibility.
